I am the Clinical Director and founder of Chamin Ajjan Psychotherapy, LCSW PLLC and author of Seeking Soulmate: Ditch Dating Distress and Find Real Connection. As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), I am licensed by New York State to diagnose, create treatment plans, and practice psychotherapy.
I received my Master’s Degree in Social Work from Columbia University and a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Welfare with a minor in Education from the University of California, Berkeley. I earned my SIFI Certificate (Seminar in Clinical Field Instruction) from Columbia University. I am a trained and certified Cognitive Behavioral Therapist (CBT) and an Academy of Cognitive and Behavioral Therapies (A-CBT) Diplomate.
I have been practicing psychotherapy for over 20 years and have experience working with adult individuals, couples and groups. In addition, I am an Expert Reviewer for MindBodyGreen, Expert Author for Psychology Today, have been an Online Course Facilitator teaching CBT at Boston University’s School of Social Work and have appeared in print and video media as an expert in the field.
In 2011, after 10 years of service at District Council 37’s Personal Service Unit and some time at The Brooklyn Center for Psychotherapy, I started a family and made a personal choice to focus on my family and the private practice that I had started to build in 2004. My clinical approach and interventions are informed by the integration of such frameworks as traditional talk therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing and Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT).
